What is coaching anyway? And do I need it?

What is coaching? And what does it mean to be coached?

Before going into a definition of coaching – first let me share with you these words:

Empowered                            Intentional                     In Control

Self-Aware                             Options                          Desire

Purposeful                             Clarity                            Your Path

Resourceful                           Action                            Outcomes

Your Way                               Results                           Strength

Confidence                           YOUR Purpose                Excel

These are words that I have heard from clients (and some of my own from my own experiences being coached) on how coaching can change your perspective and your experiences as you go through a process of achieving a personal or professional goal.

They also speak to the results you can achieve working in partnership with a coach.

Imagine having to make a tough decision and working with someone who has gotten to know YOU, is only focussed on YOU and provides no judgement, but listens, makes observations, helps you see and explore all of your options, senses when you might be holding yourself back, and sees your potential – even when you don’t?

Imagine feeling clearer about what you want out of life and how to get yourself there and stay in that place of clarity? Improving your decision-making skills and feeling empowered to follow your own path?

Imagine having a better understanding of the type of work that will drive you and how to do more of that work. What would it be like for you to feel energized by your work rather than drained by what you do?

Imagine moving from feeling burned out to feeling that you have your life in control and can think creatively? Feeling light, being able to see your options, and feeling empowered?

Imagine achieving your goals and then exploring what’s next?

Imagine getting there faster than you would on your own….

This is what is means to work with a coach.

I am fortunate to work for an organization that values the benefits of coaching as a means to engage and support employees in their own development.

In my coaching business, I have the honour of working with clients from all walks of life who are committed to their own success (and their own definition of success) and are ready and willing to pursue their own greatness in what they do.

Are you ready to take action in your career or business to achieve something that you’ve always wanted? Something that you’ve thought about, dreamed, and may not have even shared with anyone?

Now, a definition – for those who are looking for one:

Coaching is a creative process where the client works through self-discovery to achieve their personal or professional goals.

Coaching accelerates the process of great performance.

A coach will help you to define your goals clearly, explore your options and support you as you work your action plan and as new opportunities or challenges arise.

The International Coach Federation (ICF) highlights the benefits of coaching as the following:

“Professional coaching brings many wonderful benefits: fresh perspectives on personal challenges, enhanced decision-making skills, greater interpersonal effectiveness, and increased confidence. And, the list does not end there. Those who undertake coaching also can expect appreciable improvement in productivity, satisfaction with life and work, and the attainment of relevant goals.”

  • 80% of people who received coaching reported increased confidence

  • 99% of people who received coaching were ‘somewhat’ or ‘very’ satisfied

  • and 96% would repeat the process again.

If you are looking for help or support in achieving a goal, moving forward to YOUR great performance, figuring things out, or making a decision, then seeking a coach can be your answer.

NOW is YOUR time.
