Do you ever wish your team could take your business as seriously as you do?

Wouldn’t it be amazing if your team had the same level of commitment as you do to your business?

While that’s not a realistic expectation, you can cultivate a more earnest sense of commitment and energy to your mission.

I recently wrote about three aspects of creating a high-performing team:

  • Ownership

  • Transition Time

  • Reporting

Ownership is a big one.

Ownership is referring to owning a task or an outcome.

There’s a difference between the two.

And aligning that with your team member, and their capability and stage of development is important to consider as well.

Owning a task looks like this: Complete weekly tracking of customer engagement.

Owning an outcome looks like this: Increase the engagement of our customers through our weekly promotions by 10%.

Not only will tracking be a part of this, but you’ve included the strategy to deliver a result.

This is one way to enhance the level of commitment with a capable team member.

It’s not easy to let go.

It’s not easy to delegate.

But if you begin to think about the idea of tasks vs. outcomes, this could be a path to building more commitment and developing your team so they can evolve their contribution in a meaningful way.

It’s a great way to develop good people.

NOW is YOUR time.
